Area Rug For Parquet Flooring, Minimalist Design And More

by Philip Watson

Decorating your home today can present quite a challenge. There are so many different styles to choose from, especially with the more recent trend to adopt ideas from different ethnic backgrounds.

The global influence too of ethnic designs is something to consider. This actually makes home interiors more interesting. A touch of Asian design in a United States suburbs, a South American flavor in a European home or a Wild Wild West look to a beach house in the Caribbean are now possible without having to relocate to another country.

Parquet flooring is one specific home design trend that is just impossible to overlook. The demand for this flooring is so big that homeowners who want great style will choose parquet flooring. Match it with a beautiful area rug and the look is complete.

At this point in time, modern decor is going through a minimalist phase. Simple pastel shade colors relying on either a subtle blending or outright contrast to impress are the \”in thing\”. This creates the perfect opportunity for a well chosen rug, or rugs, depending on the size of the room(s), to provide that perfect finishing touch.

A parquet floor for instance, looks great with a shag rug. The sleek look of the floor is also emphasized with a similarly clean looking color of the rug such as white, beige and cream.

But because a real wood parquet floor is just that…..real wood, the best thing to go with it is something in the autumnal colors of nature. Again you are looking for a contrast effect as well as complimentary, so with a light shade of parquet, a darker shade of brown or even a rich burgundy would look stunning. Conversely, with a darker style of parquet, a lighter rug would be more appropriate. A dark rug against dark parquet will only create an overall dark and stuffy like environment whereas a lighter shade will offset against the dark background magnificently and will draw more attention both to the parquet and the rug itself.

Area rugs are available in so many varieties, shapes being one of them. Make the room more pleasing to the eyes with an area rug that is suitable to the room\’s size. Circular rugs for example, are ideal for smaller rooms.

For a bigger room on the other hand, a rectangular or oval rug is perfect. A spacious room has the advantage of being able to make an area rug its focal piece. There is enough space to display the equally bigger rug in the center of the room.

Using a rug as a furniture accent also entails the right size and shape. There should be enough \”legroom\” for the furniture to be secured on the rug. Half of the table\’s legs in and half of them out is not exactly nice to look at.

If you\’re looking for a successful home decorating experience, don\’t ever go without area rugs. With these decors, you\’ll never go wrong. You will only be making your home better and better with each area rug.
